Post by Paul LamHi I've recently installed Redhat for the first time an am having trouble
configuring my modem. Can someone please advise me as to what I need and
what I have to do to get up and running - it's giving me a headache. Any
help would be appreciated.

Two different ways of doing it. One in kernel, one in userspace.
I've had both working (needed to enable buffering to get the userspace
one to work properly).
With both of these solutions I have some sort of lockup problem that I
blame on the USB hardware (very old PC, with PIIX3 chipset). When
under full load (2 meg dsl) it drops a lot (often every few seconds).
It's not a trivial thing to setup, but even if you don't understand
exactly what the instructions are all about, you should be able to
muddle through it. Give it a try and if you can't manage it post back
here and I'll try to help.
For the kernel driver I had the atm stuff fail to compile, and had to
muck around with the install script for that "bundle" as it doesn't
really need all of it to compile just needs a few bits and bobs from
the package.
